- Natura Viva Park
An excellent opportunity to experience a fun family holiday in Verona is to visit the Parco Natura Viva di Bussolengo: born with the idea of safeguarding the endangered species, it has become a modern zoological park that allows children and adults to observe the animals that characterize the different faunas.
The zoological park hosts nearly 1200 animals of 200 different species on an area of 42 hectares wide and it is also an important scientific center for the protection of endangered animal species.
The Zoo Safari Natura Viva Park is located in Quercia in Bussolengo (VR). In the beginning, the park was called Parco Zoo del Garda and was famous for its most beloved guest, the hippopotamus Pippo.
Opened in 1969, it has passed its 50 years of opening.
Divided into geographical areas, it reproduces the different natural environments in which endangered animal species live. You can appreciate numerous and accurate reconstructions of now-extinct animals such as the classic dinosaurs, all life-size.
There are mainly two itineraries: the Safari Park drive-in; and the Wildlife Park, which is pedestrianized.
Visit the Fauna Park on foot
You can visit the Wildlife Park walking through paths where you can admire the species present in the 5 continents. The visit can take approximately 4 hours. All along the area, you will find refreshment points, snack bars, a restaurant, and areas equipped with benches for resting.
Fauna Park starts with the Africa area. During this path, you will admire animals such as hippopotamus or rhinoceros, but also antelopes, cheetahs, chimpanzees, and lions. In the Asia zone: camels, red pandas, and Siberian tigers.
Do not miss the area dedicated to turtles and reptiles, with a large tropical greenhouse. In the “farm” section, goats can be fed.
There are beautiful coniferous forests in the path of Europe, while in Borealia we find the animals such as the snow owl, the reindeer, the European bison.
To the delight of the little ones, the Parco Natura Viva Zoo also dedicates a part to the extinct prehistoric animals: Extinction Park.
Zoo safari by car
Driving in your car, you can admire the animals of the Savannah: lions, cheetahs, ostriches, wildebeests, giraffes. The visit by car takes about 40 minutes.
A regulation must be respected to preserve the protection of animals and the guests’ safety: car windows must be kept closed, it is forbidden to feed the animals as well as honk the horn if not in case of extreme necessity.
